A zine by Mattie M.

Made during the TRANS FXCKING RAGE JAM

Content warnings for: mild cartoon body horror (there is some blood on one character, and another character is headless. she's fine, tho.)

Though it's part of the Human Digital World, over the years Digital New York City has found itself slowly becoming home to more and more non-human people as well. With this influx of non-human cultures comes tons of genders that we humans find ourselves unfamiliar with. We at the Digital NYC Queer Zine Collective wanted to help correct this and teach our fellow humans about the genders of non-human people while also celebrating the gender diversity within our city.

Our team is primarily human, and because of this we felt unqualified to write descriptions of non-human genders. We wanted people to be able to speak for themselves, to tell us about their gender in a more authentic way. So we took to the streets of Digital NYC and asked non-humans one question: "How would you describe your gender?"

We compiled their answers in this zine for humans and non-humans alike to read.

Genders of Time and Space as Told to Us By People of Varying Non-Human Species and Cultures in the Streets of Digital New York City contains 15 unique characters, each describing their gender in their own words. The zine comes with 3 PDFs:

  • the regular version of the zine
  • 2 alternate versions that are text and images only (no backgrounds, more legible font) for those who are having difficulty reading the zine or who want a clearer look at the character portraits
